Cristiano Ronaldo reaches 700 goals: The road to glory
15 October 2019
Cristiano Ronaldo fired home his 700th career goals for club and country against Ukraine.
To mark the occasion, we take a look back at the Portuguese superstar’s road to his heroic goal tally.
Ronaldo, now 34, joins a list of goal scoring legends, including the likes of Pelé, Gerd Muller and Ferenc Puskás in the elite club of sharpshooters.
Following in the footsteps of Real Madrid legend Puskás, who relished goals for his country, Hungary, the prolific frontman notched his 699th goal against Luxembourg in fine fashion, stylishly chipping the opposition’s goalkeeper.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner made his international debut in August 2003 and has led the Seleção to international glory in both the 2016 European Championship as well as in 2018-19 Nations League.
He leads the way in both the appearances and goal tallies for his country.
The former Madrid number seven recorded a phenomenal 450 goals in 438 appearances for Los Blancos.
Perhaps his most special goal coming in the 2018-19 Champions League quarter-final first leg fixture against his current proprietors, Juventus.
An acrobatic overhead kick shocked the world, winning the goal of the tournament whilst defying gravity.
After winning three Champions League trophies back-to-back and breaking every club record along the way, Ronaldo swapped the Bernabeu for a move to Turin.
The hitman has started this season where he left off with last season, scoring 28 times and winning yet another domestic title.
