The FC Schalke 04 travelled from Mönchengladbach with a point in the luggage back to Gelsenkirchen.

Christoph Kramer had shot the team from the Niederrhein into a 24th-minute the lead. The equalizer was also from a Borussia player: Jannik Vestergaard met after a cross by Daniel Caligiuri into his own goal (62).

After a well-balanced start in Borussia Park, the foals took over the command after about ten minutes.

The visual superiority was made to count midway through the half. After a corner, the ball landed on Matthias Ginter at the second post with Christoph Kramer, who drove the ball from the shortest distance with his right foot.

Schalke, however, responded well and went close to levelling with a shot from Thilo Kehrer from eleven meters which was headed clear by Matthias Ginter.

In the final stages of the first half, the Royal Blues twice had the luck on their side. Raffael Vincenzo Grifo blazed a shot against the crossbar from just a few yards out.

The rebound landed at Lars Stindl, who pushed the ball over the line. Referee Sascha Stegemann decided on offside.

Shortly before the break, the referee was again in the spotlight. First, he decided after a foul by Naldo on Lars Stindl to award a penalty.

But after looking at the moving images on a monitor on the sidelines, Sascha Stegemann revised his decision.

Mönchengladbach started slightly better in the second half but Schalke slowly grew into the game, squeezed skillfully and were rewarded after 62 minutes with the equalizer. Daniel Caligiuri's cross from the right side was diverted into his own net by Jannik Vestergaard.

Substitute Guido Burgstaller fired a dropkick that landed just above the crossbar soon after (67.).

But with no further goals comeing Schalke, made it a tenth competitive game in a row without defeat.

There is hardly any time to breathe deeply, as the next task will soon be waiting. On Wednesday (13.12.) At 8.30 pm the FC Augsburg will be guests in the VELTINS-Arena. For the duel against the Fuggerstädter tickets are still available on . The Bundesliga season ends on Saturday (16.12.) At 15.30 clock at Eintracht Frankfurt.
